Using Carpet Outdoors

When using carpet outdoors, you’ll find it is much simpler than standard or traditional indoor carpeting. It is easy to install and can be performed by an individual rather than hiring a professional contractor. However, if you don’t have the time to install it yourself, you can always hire someone. For those who don’t mind tackling home projects, laying it is simple and easy. You don’t need to worry about trying to stretch the carpet to make it fit over padding and tackless strips.

When laying the carpet you will select an adhesive or you can even use double sided tape to secure the carpeting. Many people prefer to use double-sided tape, as this is very durable and can withstand any changes in the environment. This ensures that it will remain secure throughout the various seasons and climate changes and when you’re ready to change the carpet you’ll be able to remove and replace it easily.

To install it simply clean off the underlying floor or concrete and position the carpet where you will place it. Ensure that there is a bit of excess where the carpet meets the wall. This will enable you to trim away the excess later and make certain that it has a perfect fit. Once you are ready trim away the excess, use a straightedge and trim away with a rotary blade. Once you have your carpet cut, it’s time to lay the double-sided tape. It’s a good idea to work slowly however, you’ll find that when working with the tape you can easily adjust the carpet and reposition it if needed.

You should place the tape along the wall and then when you are finished place a big strip of tape in the middle to keep the center of the carpet locked into place. It’s best to use the thickest double-sided tape available as this will provide the greatest protection and secure it. When finished affixing the carpet, go over it with a roller.
