Outdoor carpeting

Outdoor carpeting is a wonderful choice for many outdoor projects. It can be used for patios, decks, and boats, even gardens. However, when selecting the carpet it’s important to take a few things into consideration to ensure that you select the best carpet for your projects needs. If you are selecting it for a patio, you will need to determine how you will affix the carpet. Many patios are concrete, making them perfect for covering with carpet. You can choose either double sided tape or an adhesive to secure the carpeting. One of the greatest advantages of selecting carpeting is that you do not need to worry about tacking it down or adding padding underneath.

If you are selecting new indoor-outdoor type of carpet and need to remove preexisting carpeting, you might have run into some difficulty. When it is affixed using adhesives, it can be very difficult to remove the it to lay new carpeting down. This is one of the reasons why many homeowners prefer to use double sided tape as opposed to adhesive. The adhesive is very effective and extremely difficult to remove.

If you need to remove adhesive from previously installed outdoor carpeting, try using boiling water. Apply the boiling water, and then use a putty knife to help pry the carpet away from the adhesive. When working with boiling water to remove it, make sure to wear heavy gloves, rubber is preferable; and avoids direct contact with the water. Let the water set on the carpet to soak through to the adhesive, and then begin removing it. This is the most effective way to remove it. When you have finished removing the carpeting, the concrete should be in good condition. If there are any particles left or remaining adhesive, consider using an adhesive remover and sanding down the area to ensure it is smooth, free of debris, and ready for the new  carpet.

Carpeting for outdoors provides many benefits and is a great solution for those who would like their patios and sunrooms to have a finished, natural look. Additionally, it is easy to clean; often all it takes is a spray with a garden hose or a leaf blower to ensure that the carpet is looking like new. When looking for creative solutions for children’s play areas, pets romping grounds, or for flooring solutions for patios and sun rooms, consider choosing the carpeting.
